Movement

Movement is the mechanism of a watch; it is the movement that makes a timepiece tick: timekeeping, date display, and complications such as chronographs and moon phases. Actually, in reference to the mechanism, watches term it as the "heart" of the timepiece. Movements can also be mechanical, automatic, or quartz powered. A well-crafted movement ensures accuracy and reliability at the same time and therefore underlines the skill of its maker.

The exactness of high-end watches' movements is often topped by intricate decorative finishes, making them art in themselves.
