Crown

A crown, also known as a knob on the side of a watch case, often positioned at 3 o'clock, is used for setting the time and, in many models, for manual winding of the movement in mechanical watches. Pull out the crown to adjust hands and date or any other required feature by turning it.

In some watch models, it regulates further functions, including chronograph or dual-time zone. They may be accented with emblems or other forms of ornamentation, and some feature screw-down crowns to enhance water resistance. It is both a functional and aesthetically meaningful component of the watch, equally important to its functionality and beauty.
